Irene Smolenski, 93, East Moline, passed away on Sunday, June 30, 2019 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 10:30 AM Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visitation is from 9:30 until service time at the church. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, where she was a member.

Irene Orzol was born on December 3, 1925 in Chicago, IL, the daughter of Alex and Mariane Orzol. She was later adopted by Wenceslaws andAlexandria Zwierzchowski. She moved to East Moline in 1930. She attended George O Barr Grade School and graduated from UTHS. Irene worked for the former Tri-City Grocery Store, Silvis and Eagle Food, George O Barr, Buddy L Toy Co., Trophy Shop and finally Sears & Roebuck. She married John Smolenski on October 6, 1945 in Moline. He died January 7, 2014. She loved flowers and arranging them, animals and crocheting. She always enjoyed decorating her home for the holidays.

Survivors include her sons, Ron (Becky) Smolenski, East Moline, Dave Smolenski, Geneseo and John (Ruth) Smolenski, Davenport, grandchildren; Jeff, Tanya, and Dustin (Tammy), great-grandchildren; Zander, Eli and Addie, and her sister Evelyn Wisinski, Westmont, IL.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by both sets of parents, two sisters and three brothers.
