Irene E. Verplaetse Stranberg, 98, of Moline, IL, passed away Sunday morning, December 24, 2023 in Moline, IL.

Irene was born August 16, 1925 in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Henry and Marguerite DeCloedt Verplaetse. She attended Moline schools.  She married Robert Stanberg on April 12, 1947 in Moline. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on June 30, 2004, and her parents, and her brother, Henry Jr., in 1952

Irene worked at Moline Heating & Construction from 1948 to 1969. She previously owned The Triangle Inn in Silvis, IL.

She enjoyed antiques, playing cards, and going on the boats.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and her brother, Henry Verplaetse, Jr.

Private graveside services are entrusted to Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline.
