Obituary

Funeral services for Irma A. Carmack, 105, of East Moline, IL, will be 11 am Tuesday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 9:30am to service time Tuesday at the church. Irma passed away Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at home, surrounded by her family. www.facebook.com/vanhoefuneralhome to view live stream.

Irma DeClerck was born May 15, 1917, in St. Boniface Manitoba, Canada, the daughter of Ferdinand and Augusta (Heytens) DeClerck. She married Meredith Charles "Nick" Carmack September 30, 1939. He passed away January 17, 1960. Irma was certainly a part of the "Greatest Generation." A survivor of two pandemics over the last 100 years. A young widow who raised 4 daughters successfully. A talented seamstress who worked several jobs over the years raising her family. In her later years she enjoyed being the librarian and teachers aide at St. Mary's Catholic School, East Moline, where she made all the children's costumes for the holiday programs. She had been an active volunteer at St. Mary's Catholic Church, where she started the Martha's Group. The Diocese of Peoria awarded her the Pere Marquette Award for her service to the parish. Irma loved gardening and being outdoors. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother.

Survivors include her daughters, Pat (Rex) Taylor, East Moline, Rosie (Denny) Meyer, East Moline, Sandie (Bill) Vance, Arlington, TX, and Becky (Bryon) Brown, Spring, TX; 14 grandchildren; 37 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Patt Carmack, Dubuque, IA; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; and siblings, Prosper DeClerck, Mary Carmack, Edmund DeClerck, and Charles DeClerck.

Memorials may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church, Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, or for masses.
