Irma Ethelyn Hessell, 102, was welcomed into the presence of her Lord on April 16, 2017 at home in Silvis, IL Funeral Services will be on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 2PM at the Van Hoe Funeral Home LTD, East Moline. Visitation is one hour prior service time. Chaplain Dean McFadden of Genesis Medical Center Pastoral Care, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, IL. Irma was born February 7, 1915 in Moline, the daughter of John and Elvira Lundberg Samuelson. She was previously the owner of the Doll Shop in East Moline. Irma was very active in china painting and porcelain-doll making. She had learned sewing from her mother. She sewed for many families in the Quad-Cities and until recently was still sewing, knitting and crocheting. She made many quilts and provided quilts to many shelters and the Crisis Pregnancy Center of the Quad-Cities. She was a faithful provider of knit dolls, crocheted hats and sewn school bags for Samaritan's Purse Shoe Box Ministry. Irma was a member of Wildwood Baptist Church and active in missionary work. Memorials may be made to Samaritan's Purse. She is survived by daughters Joyce Pettit, Aurora, IL; Margo (Jim) Morgan, Coal Valley; and Kathleen Soots, Silvis; 16 Grandchildren; 35 Great - Grandchildren; and 10 Great - Great Grandchildren. Her son, Stanley Daryl Hessell, preceded her in death as well as sisters Margaret Gustafson, Svea Miller and brother, John Samuelson.
