Obituary

Stella Isabelle (Baker) Harrington Barton, 96, of East Moline, IL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 20th, 2010, at 3:58 AM, at Trinity Rock Island, IL. She was born May 4, 1914, Wyatt, MO, the daughter of Charles Otis and Stella Brent Headley Baker, coming with her family from Wyatt, MO to Metropolis, IL, February, 1928, when she was thirteen. She was proceeded in death by her husband of 40 years, Raymond Clyde Barton; her parents, Charles Otis and Stella Brent Headley Baker; her daughter, Phyllis Belle Harrington Thompson; her granddaughter, Julie Anne Johnson, her sisters, Helen Mildred Baker Bean, Ruby Marie Baker Davidson, Thelma Elizabeth Baker Parker, and Peggy Alice Baker Otis and her brothers, Charles Aaron Baker, Marshall Eugene Baker Sr., and James Elbert Baker. She is survived by her son-in-law, Jack Earl Thompson; daughter, Bonnie Sue Barton Johnson Skaggs and spouse, Terry Lee Skaggs, Sr.; her granddaughters, Debra Sue Thompson Driver Hicks and spouse, James N. Hicks and Jacqueline Jo Johnson Harris Smith; her great grandchildren, Timothy Thompson Driver and Charity Grace Driver; Kimberly Michelle Harris and Maeggan Jo Harris; her great great grandchildren, Kamron Isaiah Harris and Tre' Harris Floyd; and her step grandchildren, Terry Lee Skaggs, Jr., and Tracy Lon Skaggs. She is also survived by her brothers, John Milo Baker and William Stanley Baker; niece, Linda Louise Barton Roach. The family will receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday night at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM Wednesday morning at the Gospel Assembly Church, Moline, IL, where she had attended since 1963. After the service she will be transported to Metropolis, IL, and buried in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery beside her husband, Raymond Clyde Barton.
