Funeral services for Ivan L. "Bud" Whitmore 82, Silvis, are 11 AM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services. Bud went to heaven on Tuesday, October 7, 2008 from Forest Hill Nursing and Rehabilitation, East Moline. Memorials may be made to Homewood Evangelical Free Church, Moline, where he was a member. Bud was born September 23, 1926 in Wever, IA, the son of Orville and Ethel (Zimmerman) Whitmore. He married JoAnne Verhaeghe on January 21, 1949 in Silvis, IL. He had worked at the former Moline Accessories Corp for 37 years, retiring in 1991. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, JoAnne, daughter Sherri Thompson, grandsons David (Laurie) and Dan (Connie), great granddaughters; Kaylee, Jenna, Alexis, and Zoey, sisters; Joyce and Betty, both of Burlington, IA and brother Keith of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister Dorothy and son-in-law Tom Thompson. Bud's family would like to thank the staff at Forest Hill and at Genesis Hospice for their compassion and wonderful care, it is truly appreciated.
