Ivan "Butch" Smith, 66, East Moline, died Monday, April 19, 2010 at his home with his family at his side. Private family services will be held at the Rock Island National Cemetery with military honors. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established. Butch was born August 4, 1943 in Moline, the son of Leo I and Nina May (Truitt) Smith. He served in the US Army during the Vietnam Era. He retired from PPC in Moline as a secondary foreman. He married Anna Thompson Bowers on August 4, 1987. He enjoyed woodworking, NASCAR and Boxing. Survivors include his wife Anna, children; Darla Hudson, Rock Island, Matt Bowers, Des Moines, IA, Robin Priest, Colona, Jane Garrison, Geneseo and Matthew Smith, Colona, eleven grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter, sisters Lillian M. Carothers and Linda S. Reyes both of Rock Island and a brother Don E. Smith, Moline. He is preceded in death by his parents, a sister Bonnie and a brother Leo.
