Ivan J. Wessels, 90, of East Moline, IL, passed away Thursday, July 21, 2022, at Hope Creek Care Center, East Moline, IL. Private services will be held and burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline.

Ivan was born March 7, 1932, in Ellsworth, MN, the son of Fred and Gertrude (Hendrichs) Wessels. In his youth he worked on the family farm. He served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict. When he returned married Sonja Gysland February 18, 1955, in Ellsworth. She passed away June 7, 2008. They were married for 53 years. Ivan and Sonja moved their young family to Illinois where he worked and retired from the East Moline Post Office. They raised their four boys. He like to work in his yard and his garden.

Survivors include his children, Steve (Cheryl) Wessels, East Moline, Dan (Marie) Wessels, Colona, IL, Jeff (Lori) Wessels, Silvis, and Brad Wessels, Janesville, WI; 13 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; 6 siblings; his brother the late Gene Wessels and his sister the late Margaret Wessels Speiker, and survived by brothers, Leslie (Dorothy) Wessels, Dwayne (Barb) Wessels, Larry (Sue) Wessels; and sister, Diane (Lonnie) Boltjes.
