J. Geraldine "Gerry" Caldwell, 95, Hampton, passed away on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at her home. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at MGT New Hope Church, Moline. Burial is in Hampton Cemetery. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Memorials may be made to MGT New Hope Church or to St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Gerry's family invites everyone to wear pink to her visitation and service in honor of her favorite color. Gerry was born May 16, 1922 in Gilead, NE, the only child of Claude and Esther (Terry) Williams. She married John C. Caldwell on September 30, 1939 in Muscatine, IA. He died January 22, 2002. Gerry was proud to care for her family, she baked magnificent pies and cooked up a delicious chicken and noodles. She had a love for animals, enjoyed crocheting, working crosswords, reading and watching John Wayne movies. She was a devoted member of MGT New Hope Church in Moline. Survivors include her children, Charles L. (Debbie) Caldwell, Moline, John A. (Sandy) Caldwell, East Moline, Terry L. (Patricia) Caldwell, Moline, Susan (Doug) VanHollebeke, East Moline, Julie Gustafson, Hampton and Denise Caldwell, East Moline, grandchildren, Tim Caldwell, Melissa Caldwell, Marc Caldwell, Marcy Melton, Jason Caldwell, Justin Caldwell, Shawn Chaney, Sarah VanHollebeke, Mackenzie Gustafson and David Overfield Jr., fifteen great-grandchildren and 6 great-great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Caldwell.
