Obituary

Jack L. McIntire, 72, Silvis, passed away Sunday, February 5, 2006 at Trinity Regional Health Systems, Rock Island. Visitation is 4-7 PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Following visitation his body will be cremated and graveside committal services are 10 AM Friday at Roselawn Memorial Estate, Moline. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Katy-Mack Foundation, PO Box 1133, Winfield, AL 35594. Jack was born March 25, 1933 in East Moline, the son of Albert and Violet Gillen McIntire. He married Ruth Ann Kicksey in 1962. She died in 2002. Jack established the 2 and 92 Salvage Yard in 1951. He later sold the Salvage Yard and worked for Darling Company for several years. In 1964 he purchased the NuWay Auto Salvage and later purchased the Truck Test Lanes in Hampton. He also was a partner in McIntire & House Siding Company. After selling the Test Lanes, he owned and operated the Apache PawnShop in Silvis and also worked for the City of Silvis in Street Maintenance, retiring in 1992. After retirement, Jack pursued his interests in the buying and selling of antiques and collectibles, continuing this interest until his death. Jack enjoyed telling jokes and making people laugh. Survivors include brothers Albert McIntire, Oklahoma, Gary McIntire, Kewanee, IL, David McIntire, Silvis, Alvin McIntire, Wayne City, IL, and Thomas McIntire, Moline, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife Ruth, a sister Kathryn Pedersen precedes him in death.
