Funeral services for Jack F. "Mike" Meincke, 77, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 AM Friday, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Thursday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a liturgy service will be held at 6:30 PM. Mr. Meincke died Tuesday, May 01, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, Believers Together Center, or St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline. Jack was born July 3, 1929 in East Moline, IL, the son of John F. and Dorothy (DeAulley) Meincke. He served in the US Navy during the Korean Conflict, serving from 1948-1952. He married Mary Ann (Lampo) VanOpdorp, October 22, 1982 in Davenport, IA. Jack had worked as a self employed carpenter, building many homes over the years. He then worked for the City of East Moline as Building Inspector, retiring in 1997. Jack was known for his dry and sarcastic wit. He loved his family deeply. Survivors include: his wife, Mary Ann Meincke of East Moline; daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Merlin Abel of McKinney, TX, Kit and Ronald Whan of Bettendorf, IA; stepdaughters and son-in-law, Jean and Joe Hansen of Moline, IL, Cheryl Williams of Moline; stepsons and daughters-in-law, Bob and Terri VanOpdorp of Aledo, IL, Terry and Debi VanOpdorp of Moline, Lee and Michelle VanOpdorp of East Moline, Todd and Karen VanOpdorp of Moline; 26 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren.
