Funeral services for James W. Caldwell, 79, East Moline, are 10 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct Military Honors. Visitation 3-5PM Sunday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Jim died Tuesday, December 29, 2009 at Rosewood Care Center, Moline. He was born on September 29, 1930 in High Splint, KY, the son of Jess and Hassie (Johnson) Caldwell. He married Clara Burress on February 9, 1953 in Jonesville, VA. Clara died April 3, 2001. He retired as an inspector from the former American Air Filter, Moline. Jim served in the Marine Corp. during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the East End Boulder's Club and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals Fan. Survivors include his son Darrell and Stacey Caldwell, Silvis, grandchildren; Heather Caldwell, Thomas J. Caldwell and Katy Lucas, great grandchildren: Xavier and Nautica, a sister Kathleen Cox of Lebanon, OH, brothers Vernon Caldwell, East Moline and Benny Caldwell, Arizona and a special caregiver Donetta Caldwell, East Moline He is preceded in death by his wife and his son Jeff.
