James L. Crawford, 90, of East Moline, IL, passed away Friday June 16, 2023, at Genesis-Illini Campus, Silvis, IL.

In accordance with his wishes, his body has been donated to University of Iowa for scientific study. No services are planned at this time. Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with arrangements. Entombment of his cremains will be at a later date in Rock Island National Cemetery, Arsenal Island.

James was born March 27, 1933, in Chicago, IL, a son of George and Doris Kline Crawford. He married Barbara J. Frank on August 10, 1957, in East Moline, IL. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2019.

He graduated from Coal Valley High School. James was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal, where he was a communication management specialist.

He enjoyed music and was an avid banjo player.

Surviving is his son, Jeffrey Crawford, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

James was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brother and sister-in-law, George and Shirlee Crawford.
