Jim was born November 24, 1940 in Moline, IL, the son of Armand and Clara (Hermans) Eechaute. He married Donna Marie Van De Walle, August 3, 1963 in Rapids City, IL. He had worked as an Electrician for IBEW Local 145 for 40 years, retiring 2002. Jim was a family man in the truest sense of the word. He was never happier than when he was surrounded by family. In addition to being an accomplished electrician, Jim was a master craftsman. His talents included woodworking and construction of all kinds. It was not uncommon for Jim to be building houses, cabinetry and decks for family and a few close friends. Up to the very end, Jim was vacationing and fishing with Donna and their children. Jim's pride and joy was his five grandchildren. Their "Papa" was always there for them and his influence over them will be felt forever. Jim was a man who believed in quality and he spent his entire life working hard to make sure that whatever he put his hands on, it was going to be there for many years. Survivors include: his wife, Donna Eechaute of Geneseo, daughters and sons-in-law, Annette and Chris Lopez of Coal Valley, Denise and Tim Haras of Mundelein, IL, Angela and Brice Maertens of Geneseo, IL; sons and daughter-in-law, Dean and Ruth Eechaute of Warrenton, MO, Daniel Eechaute of Vernon Hills, IL; 5.5 grandchildren, Aaron, Mitchell, Matthew, Gabriella, Drew and one due in December; sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn and Lewis Wilder, East Moline, IL, Kathy and Jim Miller East Moline, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents. As we all look back on Jim Eechaute's life, we can all say everything he did was the ultimate in quality and he leaves this world knowing his life was a job well done.
