Obituary

Private family services for James B. Freeman 76, of East Moline, will be held, and burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, IL. The family will have a memorial service at East Moline Four Square Church, East Moline, at a later date. Mr. Freeman passed away Thursday, August 26, 2021, at his home.

Jim was born March 2, 1945, in Columbus, Mississippi, the son of Wesley and Bertice (Junkin) Freeman. He married Diana Pitcher Jan 10, 1964, in East Moline. He worked full time while attending Moline High School and graduated in 1963. He worked for the former Harvest Day Bakery for over 54 years, retiring in 2009. He was an avid reader. He was an active member of East Moline Four Square Church where he served as a deacon, and former council member. Jim never met a stranger. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Diana; children, Jeff Freeman, East Moline, and Michelle Ballard, Davenport, IA; grandchildren, Nicole (Mark) Palanos, Nathan (Lisa) Gates, Douglas Gates (Shannon Spindler) and Bradley Stout; great grandchildren, Aaron, Tyler, Hayden, Emma Louise, Emma, and Oliver; siblings, Joyce Freeman, TN, John Freeman, East Moline, and Janet Franza, VA.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jerry Freeman.
