Funeral services for James “Jim” Armstrong, 81, of Silvis, IL, will be 10 AM Wednesday June 17, 2026, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, IL. Burial will be in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-7 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at the funeral home, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Mr. Armstrong passed away Friday, June 12, 2026, surrounded by his family, at Mercy One, Silvis.
Jim was born March 11, 1945, in Stoutsville, MO, the son of Fred and Adaline Dooley Armstrong. He graduated from Paris High School in 1963. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1968 and was stationed in Korea. He married Darla Jean Hayes. He later married Janet Marie (Rasso) Webster June 29, 1991, in Geneseo, IL. He retired from Mutual Wheel, Moline, IL, in 2019 after more than 30 years of service. He enjoyed camping, fishing, muscle cars, and was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.
Survivors include his loving wife, Janet Armstrong; children, Shawn Webster, Orion, IL, Dave (Karen) Webster, Colona, IL, Todd Webster, Erie, Mick (Christi) Webster, Geneseo, Steven Webster, Colona, Anthony (Amber) Armstrong, Colona, Justin (Sarah) Armstrong, Lavon, TX; siblings, Jeannie, Judy, Jo, Gary, Cheryll, Nelsie, and Glenna; over 50 grandchildren and great grandchildren; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step father, Raymond England; siblings, Susie and Bill; father-in-law and mother-in-law, David (Helen) Rasso; daughters-in-law, Amanda Armstrong and Pamela Webster.
In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials my be made to the family.
