James M. "Jim" Girot, 60, of Rapids City, IL, passed away August 21, 2022 at home after a brief illness.

Services will be 10am Thursday, August 25, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Private Inurnment will be at a later date at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 24, at the funeral home. The family requests those attending wear their favorite team shirt or casual attire.

Jim was born December 1, 1961 in Moline, IL, a son of William and Phyllis Bennett Girot. He graduated from United Township High School, Class of 1979. He was previously married to Janet L. Griffin.

He was employed at Cheyenne Camping Center for the last 28 years.

Jim enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and camping. He was an avid Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears and Illini fan. Some of his favorite times were those spent with his family, especially his grandchildren whom he loved dearly.

Surviving are his children, Jamie (Jeramie) Ross, Moline, IL; Theresa (Jason) Smith, Geneseo, IL and Colin (Amber) Girot, Port Byron, IL; grandchildren, Brenna and Bristol Ross, Kie, Kinley and Kwinn Smith and Addison Girot; mother, Phyllis "Dolly" Girot, Rapids City; and several nieces, nephews and other family; as well as many friends.

Jim was preceded in death by two brothers, Timothy and Daniel Girot; father, William Girot; and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
