James L McMahon, 87, formerly of Silvis, passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2015 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Funeral services are 10 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Jim was born on May 1, 1928 in Chicago, IL, the son of James and Nellie (Palmer) McMahon. He married Carmen Homer on December 18, 1949 in Chicago. She died on January 3, 2003. He served in the Merchant Marines during WWII and also served in the Vietnam War and Desert Storm as a radio officer. He and his wife Carmen owned and operated Arrowhead Bowl in Keokuk, IA survivors include his daughters, Cathy Henzen, Eldridge, IA, Candy McMahon, Suwanee, GA and Cindy McMahon, Davenport, IA grandchildren; Carrie (Todd) Tracy, Chrissy (Bernard) Anderson, Michelle (Todd) Wetzell, 7 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, son Michael and sisters, Shirley Lowney and Janice McMahon.
