Funeral services for James R. "Jim" O'Reilly, 69, of Port Byron, IL, will be 10:00AM Friday at St. John The Baptist Catholic Church, Rapids City, IL. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be Thursday from 4:00-7:00PM at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Mr. O'Reilly died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Trinity Medical Center, West Campus, Rock Island, after a short illness. Memorials may be made to the family or St. Jude's Children's Hospital. Jim was born January 25, 1941 in Joliet, IL, the son of William and Frances Judge O'Reilly. He grew up in Gary, IN. He was very proud of his Irish heritage. Jim was a Vietnam Veteran and retired from the USAF in 1980. He then retired from the State of Illinois in 2001, having worked as a correctional officer for the East Moline Correctional Center for 20 years. He enjoyed all sports, especially the Chicago Bears and was a die-hard Chicago Cubs Fan. Survivors include his wife, Sherry O'Reilly of Port Byron, daughter, Tracie (Randy) Dahl of Colona; son, Sean (Kristin) O'Reilly of East Moline; grandchildren, Jonathan and Jacob Dahl, Sean, Natalie, and Kyle O'Reilly; brother, Richard (Dolores) O'Reilly of Burns Harbor, IN; brother-in-law, Woody Stafford of Hobart, IN; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister, Patricia Stafford, brother, Bill O'Reilly. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
