Funeral services for James L. "Jim" Pieler, 60, East Moline, are 10 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island National Cemetery where the chapter 299 of the VVA will conduct military honors. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family. Jim died Thursday, October 18, 2007 at his home. He was born May 11, 1947 in Chicago, IL, the son of John and Harriet B. (Hine) Pieler. He married Jodie Dunn on July 18, 2003 in Moline. He was a certified substance abuse counselor for over 30 years, last working for CADS, Davenport. Jim was a 35 year standing member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He helped a lot of men in the program by being an available sponsor. He was a Vietnam War Navy veteran. He worked part time for Roy's Upholstery and as a DJ. Jim enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife Jodie, children and spouses Jeff and Cassandra Pieler, Moline, Cory Pieler, East Moline and Andria Lee Ossowski, Davenport, stepchildren John Dunn, Las Vegas, and Jamie Dunn, Cedar Rapids, grandchildren; Hannah, Noelle, Chloe and Quinn; his mother Harriet of Hickory Hills, IL, Sisters; Blanche (Richard) Searle, Chicago, and Johnnette (Frank) Allen of Hickory Hills and brother Marty (Martha) Pieler of Batavia.
