James L. "Shep" Sheppard, 78, East Moline, died Friday, March 14, 2008 at his home. Graveside services are 11 AM Tuesday at Rock Island National Cemetery, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 9:30-10:30AM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. A memorial fund has been established. Jim was born January 31, 1930 in St. Louis County, Missouri, the son of Lloyd and Bernadine (Carlock) Sheppard. He had retired from Case IH, East Moline in 1991 as a tool and die maker after 28 years. He was an outdoorsman enjoying fishing and hunting. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law Susan and Tom Shipman, Port Byron, son and daughter-in-law James and Tina Sheppard Jr., Des Moines, IA, seven grandchildren, five great grandchildren, a sister Joyce Winger, Rapids City, IL and his special friend Lora Manasco, Moline
