James J. Stopoulos 73, LeClaire, IA, passed away on Saturday, May 20, 2017 at his home, surrounded by family and friends. Funeral services are 11 AM Wednesday at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, East Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is 3-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Trisagion Prayer Service will be held at 6:30 PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Assumption Church. Jim was born on January 24, 1944 in Moline, the son of John J. and Catherine (Kachevas) Stopoulos. He served in the US Army as a Medic for the 51st Medical Company during the Vietnam War. He married Cheryl Perkins in 1978 and they had 2 sons. He later married Kristel Jones in 2004. Jim worked for Lujack Lexus of the Quad Cities for 30 years, retiring in 2012. After retirement, Jim was a courier for Metropolitan Medical Laboratory, Moline. He enjoyed golfing, camping, canoeing, hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Lindsay Park Yacht Club, Davenport and the VFW 8890, East Moline. He served on the board of Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in East Moline. Survivors include his wife, Kristel, sons, Tony Stopoulos, Bettendorf and Tom (Tera) Stopoulos, Davenport, stepchildren, Joanna (Brent) Ayers, LeClaire, Dawn (Matt) Kruse, Port Byron and James (Amanda) Kleinau, Springfield, MO, grandchildren, Eli, Dimitrios, Keaton, Cooper, Emily, Ava, Emma, Evie and John, siblings, Lee (Penny) Stopoulos, Rockford, IL and Christine "Becka" (Roger) Miller, Naples, FL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Tony and Peter and grandson Kevin Kruse.
