James Joseph Virnig, 73, of East Moline, passed away Friday, December 19, 2025, at Silvis Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A celebration of life gathering will be 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline.  Memorials may be made to QC Paws.

James was born on September 24, 1952, in Moline, the son of Louis and Mary (Ward) Virnig.  James married Rebecca Elmore on July 14, 1973.  He worked at IH and later sold insurance for Farmers Insurance.  James loved music and cheering on the University of Illinois, especially their basketball team.

James is survived by his wife, Rebecca Virnig; brother, Steven (Amy) Virnig; sister, Patty Rotz; nephews, Tom Rotz and Jacob Virnig; and his current four-legged children, Buddy and Ellie.  He was preceded in death by his parents; brother-in-law, Daniel Rotz; and sister-in-law, Jackie Virnig.
