Funeral services for Janet C. Byers, 73, Milan, are 10 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Burial is in Roselawn Memorial Estate, Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Thursday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Mrs. Byers died Monday, February 25, 2008 at Heartland Health Care, Moline. She was born December 21, 1934 in Princeton, IL, the daughter of Arba and Elsie (Bales) Mountain. She married Dale Byers on November 21, 1954. He died April 5, 1972. Janet had worked as an aid at area nursing homes and most recently for Help at Home. She was a member of the Cornerstone Christian Fellowship. Janet enjoyed visiting with friends at William Young and their friendship club activities. She was a member of the Birthday Club. Janet had very fond memories of the trip her family took to Alaska in 2001 to watch her son participate in the Special Olympics Winter Games. Survivors include daughters and son-in-law Elva and Richard Ramser, Rock Island, Cindy Byers, Savannah TN and Bonnie Byers, Moline, four grandchildren sister and brother-in-law Mary and LeRoy Hull, Florida and brother and sister-in-law Bill and Shirley Mountain, East Moline. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents, sister Donna, a brother Kent and her son Arba in 2003.
