Janice Lee Harmon, 73, of East Moline, IL, passed away peacefully Thursday, September 17, 2015, at the Lighthouse Memory Unit, Silvis, IL, surrounded by her family. Jan had many uphill battles with multiple cancers for many years but ultimately passed due to complications of Alzheimer. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Monday at First Baptist Church Moline, IL. Burial will be in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline. Visitation will be 3:00-7:00 pm Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Janice Lee Stacy was born March 27, 1942, in Ayrshire, IA, the daughter of Verne and Della Beeks Stacy. She married Dean A. Harmon, December 23, 1967, in Moline, during a snowstorm where they then drove their way into happiness with the convertible top down. Jan was first and foremost the best wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend to all. She worked 20 years plus and retired from VanTieghem & VanTieghem, East Moline. She then was a self employed accountant after her retirement. She was devoted to her faith and was very involved with the First Baptist Church. She was involved with many organizations including: Women's Morning Connection, Q.C. Heartbeats, PTA, Bible School, Bible Studies, Diaconate, softball coach, Brownie Leader, and Band Parent. Jan is survived by, Dean, her loving husband of 48 years; her six children, Tina Hernandez Moline, Darcy (Rob) Killian Silvis, Tammy (Bill) Ruggeberg Prophetstown, Deanette (Leon) Irizarry East Moline, Troy (Kelly) Schutt East Moline, Terry (Carrie) Harmon Morganfield KY; 20 grandchildren: Courtney Hernandez, Nataly (Quinton) Reyes, Carl (Ellie) Killian, LeAnn Killian, Matthew (Courtney) Parsons, Jana (Chris) Cerveny, David (Alex) Parsons, Nacole (John) Carlyle,Zack (Katie) King, Hannah Irizarry, Anthony (Vanessa) Althiser, Tim (Chrissy) Schutt, Brad Brassfield, Ben (Alicia) Brassfield, Brittany (Tyler) Brassfield, Kevin, Quinn, Tatum, Nile and Palmer Harmon; 24 great grand children and 2 on the way; siblings; Larry(Phyllis) Stacy, Missouri and Ronnie Stacy, Kansas; several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind many special family and friends including Missy, Michael, Anthony, Jessica, Jack, Sally, Marla and Steve. Jan was proceeded in death by her parents and siblings: Naomi, Russ, Marilyn, Karen, great grandson, Julian; and beloved dog, Sugar. Janice's family would like to thank all of the staff at the Lighthouse Memory Unit, Hospice Compassus, Dr. Okba, and Pastor Dan and Lucille Cole. Memorials may be made to the family.
