Obituary

Jean S. Morton, 92, of East Moline, passed away Friday, September 12, 2025, at Silvis Center Long Term Care, Silvis.  A private family graveside burial will be held at Fairview Cemetery, Annawan.  Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, is assisting the family with services.

Jean was born on August 8, 1933, the daughter of Marcel and Maria (Van Parys) DeTaeye.  She married Harvey Morton, on August 29, 1953, in Henry County, he preceded her in death.  Jean owned/operated and managed various craft stores, including Ben Franklin and Michaels.  She was a city gal transformed into a farmer's wife.  Jean liked to keep busy between her work, the farm, and taking care of her children.  She enjoyed quilting, sewing, and being out in her garden.  Most of all she loved spending time with her family.

Jean is survived by her children,  Roxanne McKeag, Cambridge, Lisa (Brent) Thompson, Geneseo, Julie (Tom) Keith, Moline, Trudy (Danny) Odle, Kewanee, Marsha (Matt) Brown, Sycamore. Brenda (David) Seyller, East Moline, and Harvey Morton, Geneseo; 17 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter, Stacey Trigg; and sister, Lucille DeTaeye.
