Jean Elizabeth Swanson, 75, of Rock Island, died January 18, 2013 at Royal Oaks Care Center, Kewanee, IL. Funeral services are 11 AM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Rock Island Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is one hour prior to services at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to District 22 at the Robert Young Community Support Center, Rock Island. Jean Elizabeth Dice was born April 6, 1937, the daughter of Virgil Clifford and Jeannette Ovilla (Brown) Dice. She married Raymond V. Swanson on August 23, 1957 in Colo, IA. He died February 7, 2011. Prior to her marriage, Jean had attended Drake University in Des Moines, IA. She was an accomplished pianist. Survivors include her children, Beth (Derek) Mead, Covina, CA, Stephanie (Tim) Wright, Roanoke, VA, and Melissa (Mike) Rush, Kokomo, IN; siblings, Patricia Dice, Colo, IA, Sandra (Dean) Strand, Marshalltown, IA, Virgil Dice, Kingwood, TX, Beverly (Richard) Lauer, Carmel, IN, Robert Dice, Altoona, IA, and Kathleen (Hadley) Meyer, Nixa, MO; and 11 grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband and her parents.
