Funeral services for Jeannette M. Bishop, 78, Moline, are 12 Noon Saturday, January 10, 2009 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7PM Friday at the funeral home. A memorial fund has been established. Jeannette died Tuesday, January 6, 2009 at her home. Jeannette Maere was born September 26, 1930 in Moline, the daughter of Frank and Annie (Staes) Maere. She married Russell J. Bishop on July 1, 1950 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. He died June 27, 2003. Jeannette had worked as a telephone operator at the phone company, at Servus Rubber, was bookkeeper for the Bishop Window and Siding Co., and retired from the Moline Dispatch. Mrs. Bishop was a proud member of "The Club" a group of graduates from St. Joseph's High School, Rock Island that has met monthly since 1945. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law Russell and Tammy Bishop, Moline, granddaughters; Crystal and Alexa Bishop, a great granddaughter Rylee Baker, sisters and brother-in-law Marilyn and Leonard Johnson, Moline, and Kathleen Thompson, Milan, brothers and sisters-in-law Fritz and Joanne Maere, Moline and Thomas and Nancy Maere Moline and a sister-in-law Nellie Maere, Moline. She is preceded in death by her husband and a brother James.
