Funeral services for Jennie M. DeBaker, 95, Moline, are 2PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Elim Covenant Church, Moline, where she was a member. Mrs. DeBaker died Monday May 7, 2007 at Trinity Regional Health Systems, Rock Island. Jennie Almblade was born January 7, 1912 in Moline, the daughter of Otto and Ruth Almblade. She married Joseph A DeBaker in 1939. He died May 30, 1998, just short of their 60th wedding anniversary. Jennie had worked at Strombeck's, JJ Newberry in Rock Island for 20 years and later at McCabe's, Rock Island. She was an active member of the Moline Viking Club and had served as past president of the Clara Lodge, and was a member of the Women of the Moose. She was an avid bowler, enjoyed gardening, fishing sewing and travel. She and her husband summered in Wisconsin for nearly 20 years. Jennie was very active and was always ready to help out a friend in need. Survivors include her son Joseph of Hampton, grandchildren Walter and Amanda, great grandchildren Justin, Kelsey and Lakelynn, and sisters; Violet Shull, Silvis, and Helen Yeager, Marshalltown, IA. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her son James, sisters, Lillian and Clara and a brother Ralph.
