Funeral services for Gerald L. "Jerry" Neels, 57, East Moline, are 11 AM Thursday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation is 4-8PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Jerry died Saturday, April 7, 2007 at Trinity Medical Center-West Campus, Rock Island. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established. Jerry was born, July 11, 1949 in Moline, the son of Robert "Bud" and Velma (Clark) Neels. He married Suzanne Covemaker, January 2, 1971 at St. Mary's Moline. Jerry started his work career at Manery's Jiffy Gas Station, then at Kave Brothers Masonry. He served his plumbing apprenticeship with VandeGeest Plumbing and owned and operated Neels Plumbing for the past 28 years. Jerry was a Chicago Cub and Bear fan. He enjoyed golf, fishing and deer hunting. Survivors include his wife Sue, daughters and son-in-law Lisa and Carl Morlan, Davenport, Catherine Neels, Moline, son Thomas Neels, East Moline, grandchildren Cody, Alex, Lauren, Seth and Emma, his mother Velma, East Moline, sister Donna Harris, East Moline, and brothers and sisters-in-law John and Sandy Neels, Silvis, Dave Neels, East Moline and Mike and Alma Neels, East Moline. His father, niece Tammy Neels and nephew Bobby Neels, preceded him in death.
