Obituary

Jerry M. Paskvan, 75, Davenport, IA, passed away on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services are 9:30 AM Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Moline. Entombment will be in Riverside Cemetery Mausoleum, Moline. Visitation is 4-7 PM Tuesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Memorials may be made to Friedreich's Ataxia Research Alliance. Jerry was born on June 20, 1941 in Moline, the son of Matthew and Frances (Grubisich) Paskvan. He attended St. Anne School in East Moline and graduated from Alleman High School, Class of 1959. Jerry served in the Army Reserves in the 1960's. He married Sandra Ralfs on February 3, 1968 at St. Anne Parish, East Moline. Jerry built his family's home on the Mississippi River, where they lived for 45 years. He was an excellent water skier. Jerry was a skilled carpenter and had his own construction company. The quality of his work was the only advertising he needed. He established many lasting friendships with his clients. He was a member of Sacred Heart and volunteered his carpentry skills with the Pew Pals. He and his wife enjoyed many trips to Colorado skiing and a trip to Switzerland. He was a "car guy", having been an original member of the QC Vintage Rods, and longtime member of the Midwest Corvette Club. Survivors include his wife Sandy, children, Jason (Catherine) Paskvan, Bettendorf, and Molly (Kent) Akers, Hampton, grandchildren, Haley and Fox Hodge and Jack Akers, sister, Francine (Steven) DeSplinter, East Moline, nieces, Teresa (Todd) Green, Lisa (Steve) Lorenz, and Lexi (Shannon) Monahan, nephews, Michael (Ashley) DeSplinter, Nick (Kari) Ploysa and Sean Ploysa, sister-in-law, Kim (Greg) Ploysa and brother-in-law, Steve (Marilyn) Ralfs. "If you love your job, you never work a day in your life". He was preceded in death by his parents.
