Funeral services for Jerry Sykora, 92, Silvis, are 9 AM Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis. Burial is in Riverside Cemetery, Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is 1 hour prior to services at the church. Mr. Sykora died Saturday, November 18, 2006 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. Memorials may be made to Illini Hospital Auxilliary or to the American Cancer Society. Jerry was born June 20, 1914 in Silvis, IL the son of Albert and Katherine Sykora. He married Anna Talak, February 4, 1939 in Davenport. She died November 5, 2005. He served in the US Navy during WWII. Mr. Sykora retired in 1972 as a sheet metal worker from the Former International Harvester Farmall Plant, Rock Island. He was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, the VFW, and enjoyed woodcarving and gardening. Survivors include several nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, sister-in-law Bessie Talak, Moline and brother-in-law John Talak, Mesa, AZ.
