Obituary

Jerry W. Brown, 48, Moline, passed away, Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA due to complications from Esophageal Cancer. Funeral services are 10 AM Saturday at Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church, Moline. Burial is in Moline Memorial Park Cemetery, Moline. Visitation is 4-8 PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be given to the family for a memorial to be created at a later date focused on special needs youth with musical ambitions. Jerry was born August 13, 1968 in Muscatine, IA, the son of Lyman DeWayne and Barbara (Perrenoud) Brown. He graduated from UTHS class of 1986. He married Melody M. Cross on October 3, 1998 in Moline. He was a Calorimeter Repair Tech/Electrical Assembler for Parr Instrument Company, Moline. He adored his work and his work family. Jerry also had a Love and Passion for music. He played in bands, basement jams and never shied away from improv solo acts whether on a stage or just sitting in a chair alone. "Music is fun" he'd squawk. He would always pull others in to follow along. Jerry never wavered from his grounded life goals: To be an honest man, to be a loyal friend and to be a good husband. A standing ovation is in order. He exceeded expectations. Survivors include his wife and best friend, Melody. Sister, Karen Hopkins, East Moline, brother, Thomas (Lela) Brown, Harlan, IA, mother-in-law Jill Cross, East Moline and sister-in-law Misty (Ross) Taylor, Oklahoma City. Nieces, Melinda (Allen) Dumolien, Stephanie (Seth) Homolka, Samantha Brown (Maneesh Kumar). Nephews Alex Brown and Jack Taylor. Aunts and Uncles, Bob (Margaret) Perrenoud, Beverly (Hubert) McElhinney, Judy Odell along with many cherished cousins and forever close friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Kathryn Dunker, and father-in-law John T. "Butch" Cross. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.vanhoe.com
