Funeral services for Jesse R. Burgess, 65, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline, IL. Visitation will be 5-8 PM Monday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., where a rosary will be recited at 7:30PM. Mr. Burgess died Thursday, September 13, 2007 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to the family. Mr. Burgess was born August 11, 1942 in Upper Sandusky, OH, the son of Jesse and Lovie (McDanel) Burgess. He married Helen Serra September 26, 1964 in St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Des Moines, IA. He served in the US Navy. He had worked for the former International Harvester Farmall Plant, Rock Island. He then worked for Barjan in East Moline. He retired in 2003, from International Harvester, Chicago, IL. He had enjoyed going to the Quad City Downs when the horses were still running, and going to the local "riverboats". He was a loving husband and father. Survivors include: his wife of almost 44 years, Helen Burgess of Silvis; son, Ray Burgess, IL; sisters-in-law Lou Romeo of Des Moines, Carol Serra of Silvis, IL, Elsie Crane of Florida; brother-in-law,Tony Romeo of Des Moines; and family members in the Quad Cities, Kentucky, and Florida.
