Funeral services for Jesse D. Cruz Sr., 90, of East Moline, IL, will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, December 30, 2024 at Our Lady of Guadlupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, East Moline. Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Sunday, December 29th, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 2:00 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Cruz passed away peacefully Wednesday, December 25th 2024, at his sons home in Moline, where he resided for the past 2 years. Memorials may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis.

Jesse was born December 16th 1934, in Barstow, IL, the son of Carlos and Irene (Solis) De La Cruz. He married Theresa H Cacari January 8, 1955 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline, 63 years of marriage.

Military service includes honorable discharge from the Army on 28 August 1957.

Jesse worked as a welder/machinist for the former Rock Island Lines Silvis and then Burlington Northern, Galesburg and Burlington Iowa.  Retiring after many years of service. He enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, golfing, bowling, and working in the garage on woodworking and other crafts.  He had a passion for building things and working on automobiles.

He was a loving husband, and father.

Survivors include his son, Jeff Cruz, Moline, IL. brother, Charlie (Romona) Cruz, Silvis, IL; and sister-in-law, BeBe De La Cruz, Davenport, IA.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Carlos and Irene De La Cruz; wife (Theresa); son, Jesse C. Cruz Jr.; siblings, Maria (Reyes) Lara, Lupe (Beatrice) Cruz and Manuel De La Cruz, John (Mary) De La Cruz. Loving pet, Angel, 2010-2024.
