Graveside services for Jessie Bowers, 91 of Silvis, IL, will be 9:00AM Friday at the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Anyone wishing to attend the service should be at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, by 8:30 AM. Miss Bowers died Monday, January 3, 2011 at Illini Restorative Care Center, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center, Milan, IL. Jessie was born January 18, 1919 in Martinsburg, WV, the daughter of C.H. and Minnie Bowers. She served in the WAC during WWII from 1943-46 where she achieved the rank of Sgt. and had been a training NCO. After the war, she became a licensed beautician. She then worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 10 years. She retired from Modern Woodman in 1981 after many years of service. Among survivors is a friend, Ron Dixon of Moline.
