Joan I. Benson, 83, Bettendorf, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 at Serenity of Moline, East Moline. At her request, her body will be cremated and there will be no services.

Joan DeVos was born on July 5, 1937 in East Moline, the daughter of Robert and Elsie (DeDoncker) DeVos. She married Mark T. Benson on March 5, 1969 and together they had 2 children. She graduated from UTHS and received her degree from St. Ambrose College, Davenport. Joan taught at Lincoln Alternative High School in Clinton, IA for 30 years. She enjoyed gardening, quilting and knitting.

Survivors include her children, Sam (Miyea) Benson, LeClaire, IA, and Elizabeth Rose (Matthew Hunt) Benson-Hunt, Colorado Springs, CO, grandchildren, Aimee and Ian and her sister Lori Engler, Moline.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Paul DeVos.
