Joan M. Cook , 71, of Colona, passed away at her home on Thursday, June 12, 2025.

Private family services are planned with Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, and interment following at National Cemetery, Arsenal Island. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a favorite charity in honor of Joan.

Joan was born on February 27, 1954, in Moline, Illinois, the daughter of Rachael and George Lambrecht. She graduated from Alleman High School in 1972. While working at the National Grocery Store during high school, she met the love of her life, Gary Cook. They were married on August 12, 1972, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in East Moline.

A devoted wife and mother, Joan took great pride in staying home to raise their two sons. Over the years, she also worked as a data entry operator at Nomura Enterprises in Rock  Island and later as a receptionist at Millward Brown, also in Rock Island.

Joan adored her grandchildren and could often be found with a jug of iced tea by her side ready to share stories, caffeine, and laughter. She loved nothing more than watching them grow and proudly sharing their latest adventures with anyone who would listen.

She had a special fondness for her flower gardens and found peace in nature whether reading on the porch, soaking in a summer rainstorm, or simply listening to the sounds of nature around her. Her deep love for her family made her a cherished daughter, sister, wife, aunt, mother, and grandmother.

Joan is survived by her children, Kevin (Kevin) Cook of Coal Valley, Ill., and Matt (Monica) Cook of Colona, Ill.; her beloved grandchildren: Skyler, Gavin, Solana, Addie, Korbin, and Odin; and her brothers, John (Nicki) Lambrecht of East Moline, Dave (LaTres) Lambrecht of Silvis, and Dan (Val) Lambrecht of East Moline.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Gary, in 2016; her parents; and her sister, Ann Lambrecht.
