Joan E. Mullarkey, 83, East Moline, IL, passed away on Monday, February 26, 2018 at Unity Pointe Trinity, Rock Island. Funeral services are 10:00 am Saturday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00 pm Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Joan Bloom was born December 22, 1934 in Brooklyn, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Sadie Bloom. She married James D. Mullarkey on July 4, 1953 in Brooklyn. He died May 5, 2009. Joan worked in the cafeteria at George O' Barr, Silvis. Joan served on the funeral luncheon committee at Our Lady of Guadalupe, served on the PTA when her children were young, enjoyed attending her kids and grandkids activities and loved providing Sunday breakfasts for her family. Survivors include her children, Margaret (Gary) Piazza, Fallbrook, CA, Daniel (Teresa) Mullarkey, Port Byron, Kathleen (Matthew) Karstens, Coal Valley and Kimberly (Doug) Nimrick, Rock Island; fifteen grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; brothers, Joseph (Joanne) Bloom, NY and Fred (Rose) Bloom, VT; special friend, Larry.
