Joann Burns, 90, East Moline, passed away on Friday, June 17, 2022 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Funeral services are 11 AM Thursday at Christ the King Catholic Church, Moline. Burial will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation is 5-8PM Wednesday at Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 4:30 PM. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to the Royal Ball Run for Autism.

Joann Gremonprez was born on November 24, 1931 in Moline, the daughter of Adolph and Clara (Schatteman) Gremonprez. She Married Lawrence J. Burns on September 9, 1950 at the former St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline where she was a long time member. Larry died July 7, 2007. Joann worked nearly 25 years as comptroller at Van Hoe Funeral Home and in the office for South Moline Township. She enjoyed the outdoors, traveling and caring for her home and family. Joann was happiest when holding a baby.

Survivors include her children; Cathy (John Schulte) Burns , East Moline, Pat Bates, West DesMoines, IA, Larry (Karen) Burns, East Moline, Mike Burns, Silvis, Christy (Steve) Layer, East Moline, Mary (Kevin) Officer, West DesMoines, and Julie (Phil) Gambon, Coal Valley, twenty-one grandchildren, thirty-five great grandchildren, sister, Karen (Larry) Dellitt, Moline and sister-in-law Mary Alice Gremonprez, East Moline.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Elaine Hunt, brother Walt Gremonprez and son-in-law Gordon Bates.

The family would like to thank the caregivers at Amber Ridge/Cedarhurst Memory Care and Clarissa C. Cook Hospice for their gentle and loving care.
