JoAnn Whitcanack, 62, of Silvis, IL, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at her daughter's home in Coal Valley after a brief battle with cancer. Visitation will be 9:00-11:00AM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL. Graveside services will follow the visitation at Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. JoAnn Roseman was born December 3, 1946 in Moline, IL, the daughter of John "Jack" and Betty Lou(Tappmeyer) Roseman. She graduated from Moline Public School of Nursing, Moline, IL. Throughout her 40 year nursing career, she worked at Illini Hospital, Silvis, IL, Franciscan Hospital, Rock Island, IL, Rosewood and Aspen Health Care facilities in Silvis. She retired from nursing in 2008. She was a passionate hosta enthusiast, and maintained an extensive hosta collection. Above all else, she loved spoiling her grandchildren. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Tom DeRosa of Coal Valley; son and daughter-in-law, Jerrod and Kacey Cook of Joliet, IL; grandchildren, Matthew, Alexander, Evan, and James DeRosa, Katelyn and Kamryn Cook. She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, David Roseman.
