Funeral services for Joanna Schulte, 91, formerly of East Moline will be 10:00 AM Saturday at St. Anne Catholic Church, East Moline. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation is 4:00-8:00PM Friday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. A rosary will be recited at 3:30PM. Joanna died November 3, 2007 in San Pedro, Belize. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to Our Lady of Grace Catholic Academy, East Moline. Joanna Van Thorre was born July 19, 1916 in Moline, the daughter of Achiel and Sadie (Teerlinck) Van Thorre. She married Walter C. Schulte on May 9th, 1939 at St. Anne's Church, East Moline. She had worked at the former East Moline State Bank and the former International Harvester, East Moline. The Schultes owned and operated Van Thorre Hardware, East Moline, from 1944-1969. They also owned and operated Schulte's Power Equipment, from 1969 until they retired in 1977. In October of 2001 they moved to Belize, Central America to be near their son, Steven. She had been a member of St. John's Catholic Church in Rapids City, National Order of Foresters, Kings Daughters, the Illini Hospital Auxiliary, Davenport Women of the Moose, and Davenport 60+. Survivors include: her husband of 68 years, Walter Schulte; son , Steven Schulte of Belize; daughters and son-in-law, Sharon Jones of Westwego, LA, Simone and Ron Andon of East Moline, Sheryl Schulte of Yorktown Heights, New York; 6 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; sister, Lorena Fron of Prior Lake, MN; brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Dee Van Thorre of Chicago, IL, Robert and Alta Van Thorre of East Moline.
