Funeral services for Joanne Jennings, 85, of East Moline, IL, formerly of Silvis, IL, will be 10 am Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Entombment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline. Visitation will be 2-4 pm Sunday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline, where a rosary will be recited at 1 pm. Mrs. Jennings passed away Friday, June 9, 2023, at Park Vista, after a long battle with Alzheimer's. Joanne DePorter was born December 18, 1937, in Rock Island, IL, the daughter of George and Alice DeWaele DePorter. She was a graduate of Alleman High School. She joined the Sisters of Charity of the Blessed Virgin Mary (BVM) for 10 years. After leaving the Sisterhood, she married H. Thomas Jennings November 28, 1970, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, Milan, IL. Joanne taught school and was a substitute teacher in the area including St. Mary's School East Moline. She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, East Moline and Our Lady of Guadalupe, Silvis. She was a tireless supporter of Right to Life and the Cursillo Program. Survivors include her sons, Michael (Karen) Jennings, Chatham, IL, Daniel Jennings, Milan, IL, and Brent Jennings, Portageville, MO; grandchildren, Ryan Jennings, Rachel Jennings (fiancé Ryan Johnson), Elle Jennings and Ava Jennings; sisters, Carol Ehrecke, Walcott, IA, and Marieta (Don Holst), Walcott, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Don DePorter, Eugene "Bert" DePorter, Allen DePorter, Elaine Blaser, and Terese Hays.
