Joe S. Hollowell, 77, Silvis, departed his earthly life on Wednesday, August 10, 2016 at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City, IA. Funeral services are 10 AM Monday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 2-5 PM Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Disabled American Veterans (DAV). Joe was born on March 6, 1939 in Mt. Pleasant, ARK, the son of Linford and Imogene (Burgess) Hollowell. He retired from John Deere with a second career as an auctioneer which he enjoyed and did very well. He was an avid St. Louis Cardinal Fan and enjoyed listening to George Jones. Survivors include his significant other Emily Kalina, Silvis, son Mike Hollowell, Davenport, grandson, Ryan Hollowell, sisters, Betty (Curtis) Usry, Hernando, MS and Martha (John) Kinnard, Tampa, FL, brother Linford (Margaret) Hollowell Jr., Hillsdale, IL, nieces; Charla, Lisa and Tara Hollowell and Tina Murchison and nephew, Chuck Bursi.
