Memorial services for John A. Richardson, 75, of Rock Island, IL, will be 3 pm Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the Van Hoe Funeral Home, East Moline. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to services at the funeral home. Mr. Richardson passed away Tuesday, January 24, 2023, at St. Anthony's Nursing and Rehab, Rock Island, IL.

John was born February 24, 1947, in Saffell, AK, the son of Astor and Verlon Foushee Richardson. Although John was born in Arkansas, he lived almost his entire adult life in East Moline. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps in the 1960s. He worked at John Deere Harvester, East Moline for about 30 years, retiring in 2001. John enjoyed spending time with his friends and family. He was well known for helping many people over the years.

John worked many jobs in the Quad Cities. He was proud that one of his first jobs was as a paper carrier for the Rock Island Argus. (John was a loyal reader of the Argus for most of his life.) He also worked as a dishwasher at the former LeClaire Hotel in Moline and at a car wash owned by Midland-Davis in Moline, before working for John Deere for many years.

John's survivors include his sister, Shirley Dunham of Deep River, Iowa; and many nephews and nieces, who include Dave (Julie) Thompson of Davenport; Corrissa (Dave) Stafford of East Moline; Ken Thompson and family of Arkansas; Brian Thompson of Arkansas; Jeff Thompson of Webster, Iowa, Angela (Jon) Massuti, Jeannie (Jeff) Peters and Peggy (Chuck) Charland, all of Illinois; Roy Dunham, Deep River, Iowa; and many others.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister and two brothers.
