Funeral services for John E. Fiems, 70, of Silvis, IL, will be 10:00AM Thursday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Silvis, IL. Burial will be in National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Visitation will be 4:00-7:00PM Wednesday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, IL, where a rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM. Mr. Fiems died Sunday, August 7, 2011 at East Moline Nursing and Rehab, East Moline. In lieu of flowers and gifts, memorials may be made to NAMI or Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. John was born July 4, 1941 in Moline, IL, the son of Archiel and Anna Marie VanHoek Fiems. He was raised by his father and stepmother, Lois (Roch) Fiems. He had served in the US Navy. He married Lana Campbell in 1964. He later married Donna (Linnenkamp) Woeber July 3, 1982 in Silvis. He had been a diesel mechanic for the Rock Island Lines. He attended Intouch. He loved being outside and was an avid fisherman. He had been a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, Father Pro, and had participated in the Perpetual Adoration Chapel at the church. Survivors include his wife, Donna Fiems of Silvis; daughters, Cathy (Steve) Russell of East Moline, Mary Jo Fiems of Moline; sons, Michael (Mary) Fiems of AZ, Joe (Christine) Fiems of Colona, IL; grandchildren, Tyler and Alexis Russell, Joey Fiems, Tina (Zach) Stogsdill; step grandchildren, Joey (Adrianne) Dekezel, CJ and Dakota Dekezel, Meagan (Brandon) Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jessi Rayne Stogsdill and Aliyah Dekezel; sisters, Ruth Torrison, Kathryn Fiems, Victoria Young, and Debra Fiems all of AZ; Christine Powell of NV, and Rebecca Nethercutt of TX; brothers, David of TX, Steve of IL, Jim and Mark of AZ; sister-in-law, Gloria Fiems of IL, special aunt, Ruth (Bill)Quinn of NV; several nieces and nephews; and his best friend his wiener dog, Eddie. He is preceded in death by his parents, his son, Stephen who died in 2007, brothers, Bobby and Daniel.
