Funeral services for John J. Francis, 77, East Moline, are 1PM Tuesday, July 14, 2009 at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenveiw Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation is 5-8PM today (Monday) at the funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established. John died Saturday, July 11, 2009 at Genesis Medical Center-Illini Campus, Silvis. John was born April 16, 1932 in East Moline, the son of Warren and Bea (Groenwaldt) Francis. He graduated from United Township High School. He married Mary Hungate on July 15, 1951 in Colona, IL. John had worked for the Rock Island Lines, and later retired as a self employed carpenter /contractor. He is survived by his wife of nearly 58 years, Mary, children and spouses: Cathy and Art Dillon of Colona, Ruth and Steve Edwards of Grand Prairie, TX, Joe and Vickie Francis, Burleson, TX and Andy and Tracy Francis, Port Byron, seven grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and his in-law "brothers and sisters:, Elmer and Shirley Hungate, Martha and Fred Giesler, David and Jennifer Hungate, Allen and Terry Hungate and Joyce Snyder. He is preceded in death by his parents and a brothers-in-law Richard Hungate, and Carl (and Betty) Hungate.
