Obituary

Funeral services for John M. King, 80, of East Moline, IL, will be 11:00AM Saturday at Grace Baptist Church, Moline, IL. Burial will be in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00PM Friday at the Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline, where a Masonic service will be held at 7PM. Mr. King died Wednesday July 6, 2011 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus, Silvis, IL. Memorials may be made to Illini Hospital Auxiliary or the American Heart Association. John was born February 16, 1931 in Rock Island, IL, the son of Matthew and Louise Fivey King. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict serving on the SS Palau. He married Shelva West May 9, 1964 in Geneseo, IL. He had worked for Fairbanks-Morse, East Moline for over 20 years and retired from the John Deere Foundry, East Moline in 1992 as a design draftsman. He had been a member of the East Moline American Legion Post 227, Worshipful Master of the East Moline Masonic Lodge 969 and Monarch of the Zal Grotto M.O.V.P.E.R. at Lodge 969, member of the Ancient Free & Accepted Masons Doric Lodge 319, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Valley of Moline, and the Rock Island York Rite, all for over 48 years. Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Shelva King of East Moline, daughters, Yolonda (Scott) Lawson of Chillicothe, IL, Karla (Todd) Dennhardt of Peoria, IL; grandchildren, Matthew and Michelle Lawson and Reagan Dennhardt. He is preceded in death by his parents, infant grandson, Lincoln King Dennhardt, sisters, Harriet Allison and Roberta Stehn.
