John M. McCarrell, 86, of Moline, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL. Visitation will be at Van Hoe Funeral Home Saturday, 1-3 PM followed by a committal service at St. Mary's Mausoleum, East Moline, IL. Memorials may be made to Children's Therapy Center of Moline. John was born February 13, 1924 in Flora, IL, the son of Noble and Eunice Burge McCarrell. He married Betty J. Myers December 27, 1940 in St Louis, MO. He had served in the US Army during WWII. He had been a construction worker working locally, retiring in 1991 after 31 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and working on cars. Survivors include his wife Betty McCarrell of Moline; daughter and son-in-law, Janice and Roy Morley of Moline; son and daughter-in-law, John and Ann McCarrell of Port Byron, IL; 4 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; sister, Evelyn Collins of Pensacola, FL.; a nephew Jack Sawyer of Dennison, IA.
