Funeral services for John L. "Jack" Samuelson, 88, Silvis, are 1PM Saturday at Van Hoe Funeral Home Ltd., East Moline. Burial is in Greenview Memorial Gardens, East Moline, where the East Moline American Legion Post 227 will conduct military honors. Visitation is from 11:30 until service time. Memorials may be made to the Genesis Illini Hospital Foundation for the Pat Samuelson Scholarship Fund. Jack died Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Illini Restorative Care, Silvis. He was born January 31, 1921 in Moline, IL, the son of Leonard and Elvira (Lundberg) Samuelson. He married Patricia Hott on October 29, 1941 in Missouri. She died February 23, 1986. Jack served in the US Army during WWII. He retired from John Deere Harvester, East Moline. He truly loved the game of golf. Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Mary Lou Samuelson, Village of Florida, FL, grandchildren: Michelle, John and Patricia, great grandchildren Nicholas and Elena, sisters; Irma Hessell, Silvis, Margaret (Lester) Gustafson, Rock Island, and Svea Miller, Des Moines, and a wonderful friend Jose Medina. He is preceded in death by his wife and a son, Jeffory.
